Fall is a beautiful time of year and should be showcased in your home!
In our last blog, we discussed trends that are making their way into homes this fall. Now we’re focussing on how to give your home a warm fall essence, and to make it look decorative and seasonal for when company arrives at Thanksgiving.
Here are some quick tips to showcase the beauty of fall in your home.
Bring the Outdoors, Indoors
Do you have a gallery wall welcoming guests? Or maybe you have a chalkboard that keeps the kids organized? Try changing up your the messaging and photos to display words and images associated with fall. You can also decorate or frame your chalkboard with some beautiful red, orange and yellow leaves that have fallen from the trees.
If you have left over leaves, you can create create enhance your decor with beautiful DIY pressed leaf art.
How to frame pressed leaves: Luckily there are no special skills or tools required to press leaves. Once you’ve discovered some frame-worthy leaves, simply place the leaves between pages of an old phone book and leave them for a couple of days with something heavy on top of the book. From there, find a frame that offers a tight fit between the glass and backing to secure the leaves. You can always add small strips of adhesive tape to keep them in place as well. The end result is perfectly pressed leaves to showcase around your home!
You can also try adding a natural centerpiece to your kitchen or dining room table. A tall glass vase with a few pieces of birch branches in it can transform your table from summer to autumn.
Cozy Knits
Whether you purchase or knit your own cozy blanket, there is nothing more satisfying than curling up on the couch after a long day under the warmth of your favourite blanket. Drape or pile your coziest knit throw over chairs or couches to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for you and your guests. Consider adding a pop of colour by including a throw in deep fall hue.
Warm and Fuzzy
Animal fur is a decor trend right now, whether it’s a cowhide rug or faux fur pillows. Consider accenting your home with a few animal inspired blankets, pillows or rugs. If you want to invest in a soft grey or white blanket or throw, you’re not limited to showing it off in autumn, but also during the colder winter months.
Tip - When choosing a rug opt for darker hues such as browns or blacks. Don’t worry about it making your space feel smaller as it simply acts as an anchor to the room and creates a stunning focal point.

Don’t Forget Bedding
Autumn means shorter days and longer, chilly nights. Layer up your bed by adding soft flannel, timeless quilts, or cozy throws. Of course you can always turn up the heat... but creating an oasis of nightly warmth in a chilly home is a true fall comfort.
